Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Pixmion buyer reports.

What is this?

This is a plain-English buyer report for people who are not car experts. You type a UK number plate and we pull the DVLA vehicle details, the car's past MOT tests, and the available vehicle history alerts. We then explain what it means in simple words and tell you what to ask the seller.

Is this just a vehicle history check?

No. A typical check shows information and expects you to understand it. We show the information and explain it for you, in plain English, with clear next steps.

What will the buyer report actually tell me?

It shows the vehicle details and the MOT history, then explains the MOT notes in normal words. It also flags major risk markers like money owed, written off, theft markers, and scrapped status when those markers exist for that vehicle. Then it gives you clear questions to ask the seller based on what shows up.

Do you tell me to buy the car or avoid it?

No. We do not make the decision for you. We explain what the DVLA details, MOT history, and available history markers show, highlight what could be risky, and help you ask the right questions so you can decide if it is worth viewing.

Do I get the details or only an AI explanation?

You get both. You get the plain-English explanation and you can also see the underlying details it is based on. If a VIN is available, we do not show it in full.

Where does the information come from?

We use DVLA vehicle details and DVSA MOT history. We also use a paid vehicle history report from specialist data sources for the history markers. We combine everything into one place and use AI to explain it clearly in plain English. For full details, see our Data Sources page.

How fast do I get results?

Usually within about 60 seconds.

What if some information is missing?

Some vehicles simply have less information available than others. If something is not available for that vehicle, we show that clearly. You still get a useful buyer report based on the information that is available.

Is this UK only?

Yes. It is built for UK vehicles and UK records.

Do you store my number plate?

Yes. We store your number plate and your buyer report in your account so you can come back later and compare cars. Your saved reports are tied to your account and are not made into a public searchable database.

Do my reports expire?

No. Your saved buyer reports stay in your account. Some history markers can change over time, so if you want the latest status, run a fresh report.

Does this replace a mechanic or garage inspection?

No. This report is based on vehicle records and history markers. It cannot find physical problems you only spot by seeing the car and inspecting it properly. Use the report to know what to check and what to ask, and if you want the safest purchase, get an independent mechanic or garage inspection before you buy, especially if anything looks risky.

Is this legal or financial advice?

No. This is buyer guidance based on vehicle records. If you need legal or financial advice, speak to a qualified professional.

Can the AI explanation make mistakes?

Yes. The AI-powered plain-English explanation is a helpful summary, but it can occasionally misinterpret or miss something. That is why we always show you the underlying data alongside the AI summary so you can check for yourself. Do not rely solely on the AI explanation for important decisions.

Is there a data guarantee or insurance?

No. Pixmion does not include a data guarantee or insurance product. A clear report means no issues were found in the databases we checked at the time of the search — it does not guarantee that no issues exist. We always recommend combining a Pixmion report with a professional vehicle inspection before purchasing any vehicle.

Can businesses use this?

Yes. Anyone can use it. It is written for beginners, but businesses can use it too.
